  • This prize

Added live to this draw's prize, on top of the guarantee.

    £1.00
  • Next prize

Banked in the Prize Trust account. Becomes the next rung's guaranteed prize. It doesn't buy you an entry into it.

    £2.00
  • Safety net (pre-VAT)

We're below the VAT threshold, so this slice builds our Prize Safety Net and covers launch costs. It becomes VAT the day we register.

    £0.83
  • Payment & platform fees

Card processing, the website and age checks.

    £0.25
  • Running Payperclip

Live draws, support, legal and accounts.

    £0.40

So more people join and the ladder climbs faster.

  • Profit

We're a business. We'd rather tell you than hide it.

    £0.07

Per £5 ticket. “Runs Payperclip” is everything that isn't a prize: the pre-VAT safety net, fees, running costs, marketing, the Prize Safety Net and profit. Shares are rounded to the penny; profit is whatever is left so the total always adds up exactly.

Side Trades

Per £2 ticket. Side Trade prizes are bought before the draw opens.

    £0.21

Per £2 ticket. “Runs Payperclip” is everything that isn't a prize: the pre-VAT safety net, fees, running costs, marketing, the Prize Safety Net and profit. Shares are rounded to the penny; profit is whatever is left so the total always adds up exactly.

The rules we hold ourselves to

  • Prize first, tickets second. A draw can only go on sale once its guaranteed prize is in the Prize Trust account. The admin system refuses to publish a rung until the Ladder Fund covers it.
  • The split is fixed per draw. Each draw stores its split when it's created. If we ever change the defaults, it only affects new draws, and we log the change publicly.
  • The next prize is not a free ticket. The two fifths banked for the next rung guarantee that rung's prize. They don't give you an entry into it.
  • VAT. We're below the VAT threshold right now, so the slice that will become VAT goes into the Prize Safety Net instead. The day we register, it goes to HMRC.
  • Profit is the remainder. We don't round anything in our favour. Every slice is rounded to the penny, and profit is whatever is left, so the total is always exactly the ticket price.

After every draw we publish a Draw Statement that adds up the real orders: sales, prize paid, money moved to the Ladder Fund, fees, running costs, marketing and profit.
