Draft for solicitor review. This page is a structured starting point and has not been checked by a lawyer. Don't publish it before it has been.
1. The promoter
Payperclip Draws Ltd, [Registered office address] ("we", "Payperclip"). Contact: support@payperclip.uk.
2. Who can enter
- UK residents (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) aged 18 or over.
- Not our employees, contractors, directors, their immediate families or households, or anyone professionally connected with a competition.
- Accounts with an active pause, suspension or closure can't enter, by paid or free entry.
- We check age and identity at registration and before awarding any prize.
3. How to enter
- Paid entry: buy tickets on the website at the price shown. Prices include VAT where applicable. No other fees.
- Free postal entry: see the Free Entry page, which forms part of these terms. Free entries are treated identically to paid entries, with the same chance and the same draw.
- Each competition shows a per-person limit, counting paid and free entries together. Up to 50 tickets per order.
- Entries must be received before the closing date. Bulk, automated or third-party entries are invalid.
- Ticket numbers are allocated in order and shown straight after purchase, or after a postal entry is logged.
4. Prizes and the Ladder
- Each rung has a Guaranteed Prize, held in full in the Prize Trust Account before the rung opens.
- Each rung from Rung 2 also has a Growing Prize: the "this prize" share of every paid entry sold, shown on its page and in the Money Bar. Entries bought at the returning-player price add proportionally less. The total prize is the Guaranteed Prize plus the Growing Prize at the closing date. Where the Guaranteed Prize is an item, the Growing Prize is paid as a cash bonus with it.
- Next-prize vote. Where a rung shows vote options, each person with at least one valid paid entry, and each valid postal entrant who writes a vote on their postcard, has one vote on which option becomes the next rung's prize. A later vote replaces an earlier one. Online voting closes when sales close. Postal votes on postcards received before the closing date are counted before the result is locked at the draw. The option with the most votes wins. A tie is settled using the draw's published RANDOM.ORG signature. The vote decides the next prize only. It does not affect anyone's chance of winning.
- Returning-player price. For every valid paid entry a player has on a rung, they may buy one ticket on the next rung at 50% of the standard ticket price. Further tickets are at the standard price, within the usual per-person limit. The standard price shown is the price everyone else pays. The returning-player price is not available on postal entries, which are free.
- A share of every paid entry goes into the Ladder Fund, which forms the Guaranteed Prize of a future rung. A paid entry to one rung does not give entry to any future rung.
- Side Trade prizes are fixed and held, or contracted for, in full before the Side Trade opens.
- We will not reduce a prize, change a closing or draw date, or cancel a competition because of the number of entries sold.
- Prize descriptions and any cash alternative (at the winner's choice) are shown on each competition page.
5. The draw
- Draws take place at the date and time shown, normally live-streamed, with the winning entry chosen by RANDOM.ORG (Randomness and Integrity Services Ltd), an independent true random number service, as described on the Draws page. RANDOM.ORG picks a whole number from 1 to the number of valid entries, and the winner is that entry in ascending ticket-number order. The signed result is published after the draw.
- The full entry list is published before each draw.
6. Winners
- We contact the winner by phone and email within 24 hours. The winner must respond and complete verification within 14 days.
- Cash prizes are paid by bank transfer to a UK account in the winner's name within 48 hours of successful verification.
- If a winner can't be verified, is ineligible, or doesn't respond in time, we redraw from the same entry list using the same method.
- We publish the winner's first name, surname initial and county. Winners may object to publication. Taking part in publicity is optional.
7. Money transparency
The Money Bar shows how each ticket's price is allocated. The allocation stored with the competition when you bought applies. We publish a Draw Statement for every completed competition and log any change to the default allocation publicly.
8. Responsible play
Spend limits, pauses, suspensions of at least six months and permanent closure are available in your account. Credit card payments are limited to £250 per calendar month. We may limit, pause or close an account if we have concerns about harm, affordability or eligibility.
9. Cancellation and refunds
At checkout you ask for your entry to begin straight away and acknowledge that, because tickets are allocated as soon as you pay, you lose your right to cancel from that point. Refunds for genuine payment errors are processed within 14 days. If we have to cancel a competition for reasons outside our control, we refund all paid entries.
10. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.
11. Complaints, changes and law
See our complaints process. We only change these terms where reasonably necessary, with notice, and never to the disadvantage of entrants in a live competition. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales; residents of Scotland and Northern Ireland may bring proceedings in their own courts.
